I am also a big fan of Tufte&#039;s and Few’s minimalistic design approach. I agree with you that adding some style elements like background colors, colored column headers, and rounded corners not necessarily breaks the rules.

If the rounded corners or light background colors serve a purpose (to structure the table) we can use them as design elements
